The Week of Philanthropy 2023 and the celebration of European Day of Philanthropy and Foundations in Croatia were dedicated to promoting solidarity, environmental protection, health, greening of public urban areas, and active participation of children and young people in beautifying the cityscape of Zadar during today's closing event under the slogan "Making Good with a Heartprint."
The National Foundation for Civil Society Development, in collaboration with the European Foundation for Philanthropy and Social Development as the coordinator of the Croatian Foundations Forum "ZaDobro.BIT!", participated for the eighth time in the celebration of European Day of Philanthropy and Foundations and the Week of Philanthropy from September 23rd to October 1st, 2023 (Event Calendar).
The central celebration of the Week of Philanthropy 2023 took place today in Zadar, on Friday, September 29th, with various activities held in the vicinity of the General Hospital Zadar and the IMPACT - European Center for Intersectoral Cooperation for Sustainable Development. This year, the central celebration involved students from three schools in the Zadar County: Stanovi Elementary School, St. Philip and James Elementary School, and the Classical Gymnasium of Ivan Paul II.
Three activities were carried out as part of the central celebration:
*PAINT LIFE WITH COLORS
Students from Zadar schools painted a wall mural through the "Paint Life with Colors" campaign on the building of the hospital in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department in collaboration with street artist Mr. Miro Petković Modul;
*CHILDREN FOR CHILDREN WITH A HEARTPRINT
Students from lower grades participated in workshops held at the IMPACT center. In these creative workshops, students created toys that were then donated to young patients receiving treatment at the General Hospital Zadar;
*FOR THE GREEN HEART OF THE CITY
Children and young people, together with representatives of foundations, planted donated trees in the vicinity of the General Hospital Zadar to make the surroundings greener through the "For the Green Heart of the City" campaign.
Through these activities prepared for children and young people, efforts were made to sensitize and motivate them from an early age to act in line with the global Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and to guide them towards the importance of philanthropic actions directed at both their own and the well-being of their local communities.
