From May 11 to 14, 2026, participants of the “Community Potentials” Program took part in one-day group visits to the ZMAG Recycled Estate in Vukomerić, where they had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into examples of sustainable practices and the functioning of a sustainable economy.
Through a short educational program and practical activities, participants learned about composting techniques, organic crop cultivation, and the use of renewable energy sources. The lectures and field activities focused on developing sustainable habits, strengthening environmental awareness, and encouraging a responsible attitude toward the environment and natural resources.
Since 2024, the National Foundation for Civil Society Development has been implementing long-term cooperation through the i3.0 Strategic Partnership for Innovation in the Local Community and the “Community Potentials” Program. Alongside strategic partners, the Program brings together eight cities and ten secondary schools from three counties, as well as more than 130 young people and senior citizens (60+) who, as creators of positive change, develop initiatives and activities aimed at strengthening the potential of their local communities.
The Program is focused on contributing to social development through the active involvement of citizens and the strengthening of local communities, while approaching sustainable development topics in a comprehensive manner. Special emphasis is placed on the interconnection between food and environmental sustainability with the areas of nutrition, agriculture, energy, lifestyles, and waste reduction, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The visits to the ZMAG Recycled Estate were organized to provide participants with a better understanding of the application of sustainable solutions in everyday life through concrete examples and practical experience. The knowledge and experience gained will be applicable in their schools, families, and local communities, contributing to the development of healthier, more responsible, sustainable, and resilient cities in which they live.
