News 17. April 2026

The fourth generation, with 11 participating schools, began implementing the “Doing Good with a Heartprint” Programme in the second semester of the 2025/2026 school year through the Croatian version of the sCOOLFOOD module. This year, the following schools from different parts of the Republic of Croatia are participating in the programme: Primary School Vijenac from Osijek, Primary School Bedenica, Primary School Podturen – PS Sivica, Primary School Mursko Središće, I Primary School Bjelovar, Primary School Beletinec, Primary School Ante Starčević from Lepoglava, Primary School Šestine from Zagreb, Primary School Stjepan Radić from Metković, Primary School Ivan Goran Kovačić from Velika, and Primary School I. G. Kovačić Sveti Juraj na Bregu.

The sCOOLFOOD Programme is the Croatian version of an international programme designed and implemented by the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation since 2016 in the Province of Siena (Italy), and whose implementation in Croatia began in 2022 under the National Foundation. The main objective of the Programme is to highlight the sustainability of food and the environment through their interconnection with nutrition, agriculture, energy, lifestyles, and waste reduction, in line with the global Sustainable Development Goals, i.e. the UN 2030 Agenda, as the Programme promotes a holistic approach to the child, or human being, in the context of interconnectedness with all living beings on Earth.

In addition to the teaching units covered through Module 1 “Learning to Choose and Eat” and Module 2 “Waste and Disposal”, an integral part of the Programme includes visits to sustainable farms, organized with the aim of linking theoretical knowledge with practical experience. During these visits, students have the opportunity to learn first-hand about examples of sustainable practices—from growing healthy food, composting, and using renewable energy sources to preserving natural resources. Such experiences not only complement the knowledge gained through classroom teaching but also strongly encourage the development of environmental awareness and personal responsibility towards the environment and the community.

This year’s cycle began with a visit by students of Primary School Stjepan Radić from Metković to Etnoland in Pakovo Selo, and the cycle of field visits will continue throughout April with visits by other participating schools to the ZMAG Recycled Estate.
