EEA/Norway Grants

With Croatia's entry into the European Union, the possibility of using the funds of the countries of the European Economic Area and the Kingdom of Norway opened up. Since 1994, the Kingdom of Norway, the Principality of Liechtenstein and Iceland have been financing projects in the member countries of the European Economic Area in order to reduce social and economic differences within the Community and strengthen bilateral cooperation between member countries.

In the 2009-2014 financial perspective, a total of EUR 1,798 billion is allocated to the beneficiary countries, and the approved projects will be implemented until 2016. A total of 16 beneficiary countries are included in the areas of environmental protection, climate change, civil society, children and health, social development, cultural heritage, research and scholarships, work and justice, and internal issues.

The National Foundation for the Development of Civil Society is accredited as the implementing body of the funds of the countries of the European Economic Area and the Kingdom of Norway (EEA/NF) in Croatia for the area of civil society, for which an amount of 1.3 million euros has been secured for financing projects of civil society organizations.

The program of the fund for civil society organizations in Croatia aims to strengthen the development of civil society and strengthen its contribution to social justice, democracy and sustainable development. This recognizes the importance of civil society organizations as important stakeholders in a healthy and stable democracy, building an inclusive society and helping vulnerable groups exposed to the danger of exclusivity, discrimination and inequality.
