Programme: Interreg Central Europe 2021–2027
Project ID: CE0301208
Project value: EUR 750,500.00
Project implementation period: 24 months (1 February 2026 – 31 January 2028)
Project description and objectives:
The LEADER-CE project addresses the growing digital divide between urban and rural areas in peripheral and less developed regions of Central Europe.
The project focuses on approximately 200 social enterprises in pilot regions and supports them in implementing digital transformation in order to strengthen local economies, improve key services, and enhance community cohesion.
In many rural regions, social enterprises face significant barriers in accessing digital skills and innovative tools. The LEADER-CE project responds to these challenges through:
-
Mapping the needs and barriers of social enterprises in the participating regions
-
Developing “Digital Development Plans” and providing basic IT equipment where needed
-
Designing a practical training and support programme, tested through pilot actions
-
Creating a joint Action Plan to guide future policies and support for the socially responsible economy
By strengthening the digital capacities of social enterprises, the LEADER-CE project enables them to respond more effectively to local needs while increasing competitiveness. This initiative ensures that rural communities remain sustainable, attractive places to live, and digitally connected.
Expected project outcomes:
-
Establishment of a transnational network: A functional cross-border partnership for digital social entrepreneurship to exchange methods and good practices.
-
Capacity-building programme: A tested educational framework that helps rural enterprises develop digital strategies and online service processes.
-
LEADER-CE support tool: A comprehensive scheme summarising advisory methods and mentoring for regional authorities and civil society organisations.
-
Strategic action plan: A joint plan for the digital transformation of the socially responsible economy in Central Europe, integrated into national strategies.
