Euro-Mediterranean

The Mediterranean is a space of intensive social, cultural, and economic connections linking Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. At the same time, it is a region where contemporary challenges strongly intersect from climate change and migration to social inequalities and the need to strengthen democratic institutions.

Through its Euro-Mediterranean activities, the National Foundation for Civil Society Development fosters cooperation among civil society organizations, research institutions, and other stakeholders from different countries in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The aim is to develop partnerships that contribute to sustainable development, social cohesion, and the strengthening of democratic citizen participation.

Particular emphasis is placed on knowledge exchange, the development of innovative approaches, and connecting organizations working on shared societal challenges across the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Since 2026, the National Foundation has launched the iM:PACT – Innovations for the Mediterranean programme, focused on developing cross-sectoral and cross-border partnerships in the region. The programme brings together foundations and other civil society organizations, as well as research institutions to develop innovative solutions to challenges such as migration and social cohesion, environmental protection and climate resilience, as well as inclusive socio-economic development.

Through its Euro-Mediterranean initiatives, the National Foundation contributes to strengthening international cooperation, developing new partnerships, and creating sustainable solutions to shared regional challenges, in line with the principles of sustainable development and cooperation among Euro-Mediterranean societies.
