The National Foundation for Civil Society Development, in collaboration with the European Foundation for Philanthropy and Social Development as the coordinator of the Croatian Forum of Foundations ZaDobro.BIT!, is participating for the ninth time in marking the European Day of Foundations and Donors during Philanthropy Week from September 23 to October 1, 2024 (Event Calendar).
The members of the Croatian Forum of Foundations ZaDobroBIT!, listed in the Event Calendar, are organizing numerous activities on this occasion with the aim of motivating as many citizens as possible to contribute to the further development of philanthropy in Croatia through their own engagement.
PHILANTHROPY IN THE COMMUNITY is the theme of the central celebration of Philanthropy Week, which encourages the engagement of change-makers in the local community, with an emphasis on supporting those in need, but also on creating an atmosphere of kindness and connection among residents and the local community. The central celebration will be held in Zadar, at the IMPACT - European Center for Cross-Sector Cooperation for Sustainable Development, and at the Cloister of the St. Francis Monastery in Zadar, on September 30 and October 1, 2024.
This theme will be an excellent opportunity to involve representatives of youth, older adults, and representatives of cities participating in the "Community Potentials" Program. In addition to representatives from 8 cities across three counties and 10 high schools, young people and older adults (60+) (LIST) will also participate in the working part of the celebration as creators of positive changes in their communities. They will work on initiatives and activities that can contribute to realizing the potential and culture of giving in the participating cities.
With the horizontal theme Building Trust. Connecting Communities, the international philanthropic sector highlights its important impact, the communities it strengthens, and the innovations it strives for ahead of the celebration of the European Day of Foundations and Donors. #October1Europe is a day to recognize the importance of the impact of foundations in Europe and the world, as well as their indispensable role in promoting and supporting initiatives, innovations, and long-term programs that build trust and invest in social development through culture, youth action, nature and environmental protection, social care, education, health prevention, promotion and protection of human rights, and the development of modern, green, and inclusive local communities.
