The National Foundation for Civil Society Development, in collaboration with the European Foundation for Philanthropy and Social Development as the coordinator of the Croatian Forum of Foundations ZaDobro.BIT!, has joined the celebration of the European Day of Philanthropy and Foundations for the ninth time, this year during the Week of Philanthropy.
PHILANTHROPY IN THE COMMUNITY is the theme of this year's central celebration of the Week of Philanthropy, encouraging the engagement of change-makers in the local community with a focus on supporting those in need and creating an atmosphere of goodwill and connection among residents of that local community.
The central celebration took place in Zadar at IMPACT - the European Center for Cross-Sectoral Cooperation for Sustainable Development and in the Cloister of the Monastery of St. Francis in Zadar, on September 30th and October 1st, 2024.
The mentioned theme served as an excellent opportunity for the inclusion of representatives of young people, the elderly, and representatives of cities involved in the "Community Potentials" Program, who on Monday, September 30th, at IMPACT - the European Center for Cross-Sectoral Cooperation for Sustainable Development, participated in a creative workshop presenting their local communities and reflecting on their potentials. In addition to representatives from 8 cities across three counties and 10 high schools, the working part of the celebration will also involve young people and senior citizens (60+) (LIST), who as creators of positive changes in their communities, will work on initiatives and activities that can contribute to realizing the potential and culture of giving in the involved cities.
The European Day of Philanthropy and Foundations was celebrated on October 1st, 2024, in the Cloister of the Monastery of St. Francis in Zadar, where participants of the "Community Potentials" Program engaged in group discussions focused on reflecting on topics of philanthropy, community, intergenerational transfer of knowledge and experiences, and creating an atmosphere of goodwill.
The program for celebrating the European Day of Philanthropy and Foundations and the ninth Week of Philanthropy was fittingly concluded with a visit to the St. Francis Adult Home, where participants of the central celebration of the European Day of Philanthropy and Foundations delivered appropriate gifts to its residents along with messages of kindness.
